Love Ghost – the mobdividual review

mobdividual

first things first, i like these three songs for sure and im sure they are an exciting band to see live, i know i’ll try and catch them if they come around me. friday afternoon has a pablo honey/the bends radiohead era vibe to it, but utilizes a dense type of distortion for the chorus, ’96 grunge era ballad feel. the strings are a very nice touch and the guitar solo lets some serious skills shine. mystery box shows a little more ‘mood’ in the song execution. a slow and sludgy verse gives way to a play of dynamics, kind of a polished alice in chains (ish) for the chorus. mystery box dives even deeper into the emotion it takes to make loud, distorted music convincingly. reminds me of something that could have come out of an in utero session or maybe some silversun pickups sessions… and again, extremely adept guitar runs and details are strung throughout. this band has a lot of personality and are still flying through their influences. it sometimes feels as if each musician at any one time is using different influences from each other, but they are all clearly headed in the same direction. let these cats get a full length under their belt and watch out! they’ll be your new favorite band.
