Beauty in Chaos ravishes the senses on ‘The Storm Before The Calm’ LP

LA-based supergroup Beauty in Chaos released their new album ‘The Storm Before The Calm’, via 33.3 Music Collective on May 22 in the World Goth Day. Οf course, this was not a random date for the band, as BIC is an acknowledged dark-rock family that is led and conducted by Mike Ciravolo from the renowned bands Human Drama and Gene Loves Jezebel.

Recorded at Ciravolo’s own SAINTinLA Studio, this album was recorded, mixed and produced by Michael Rozon, Grammy-nominated for his work with Ministry. So we talk huge sound here for an album with many pleasant surprises. The first one is Ciravolo’s songs (without good songs you’re not going anywhere in the rock and roll universe), the second one is his guests in the studio (we’ll see them in a bit), and the third one is the outstanding work of Rozon who enhanced the whole work like a volcano.

Mr. Steven Seibold of industrial-synth-punk legends Hate Dept. and Pigface appears in ‘Almost Pure’. An utterly gothic rock tune that is placed among the grandiose song-writings, and a performance for the ages!

Also, Mr. Curse Mackey (Pigface, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Evil Mothers) appears in ‘A Kind Cruelty’, that is a post-punk, dark rock anthem!

And then we have legendary Mr. Wayne Hussey from The Mission in ‘The Delicate Balance Of All Things’, in this dark-post-rock gem!

The album also features collaborations with Ashton Nyte (The Awakening), Rafe Pearlman, Kat Leon (Holy Wars), and mezzosoprano Adrienne LaVey. Each and every song in ‘The Storm Before The Calm’ LP is a brilliant achievement in all aspects, but I guess you already understand the quality of this work.

“Undaunted and unscathed by the studio software/hardware meltdowns and the unprecedented global pandemic shutdown, here is our new album. I am in complete awe of the amazing artists; some returning, some new that have lent their voices and words to make this record possible. And I‘m eternally grateful to our growing BIC FAMILY that continue this journey with us,” says BIC curator and mastermind Michael Ciravolo who is also the President of Schecter Guitar Research.

I suggest to check this release as it will stay on your stereo for a nice long time. I listen to it a lot as it has all I need; songs, performance, the sound, and absolutely this feeling which reminds me of these really big records, and such records will never stop being made only a little less often.

‘The Storm Before The Calm’ was released on CD and digitally on May 22 with a later date to be announced for 180g-vinyl releases (black numbered limited edition and black & blue duotone). CD and digital orders come with an 8-page digital booklet with lyrics and a 25+ minute title opus not found on the vinyl version. CDs also come with the full digital download. The album can be ordered here.

Hey people I'm Mike D from Athens GR (43). I'm a sound engineer, radio producer, and certainly a music "freak." I couldn't be anything else, you see: I grew up in a musical home (my father was a composer), and wanted to be a rock-star but wasn't patient enough to study music. Instead, I studied the technical stuff and went really "nuts" when I started writing articles about the bands and artists I love. It all started back in 2002 in a printed magazine (Sound Maker - RIP) and I still do it because I really like sharing my libraries, discotheque, info, connections, knowledge, and all. I'm involved in all "waves" music (new wave/darkwave/post-punk/shoegaze), punk, industrial, EBM, alternative rock, indie, electronic, avant-garde/ experimental/ freestyle...but on the other hand I can easily throw a classical CD in the player, or a jazzy tune, or...ok you get it: Music! I'd like to read your comments on my writing because you know how it goes, and you all know the glorious song by Placebo,"Without You I'm Nothing"...Thanx and enjoy Freedom and Music, Loud!
