Jübl – Thinking Sweet EP

We present yet another excellent release for our readers. This specific release has been playing in my car’s player for many days as my summer soundtrack – best fitting for a drive to the beach. Jübl, a project that rose from the ashes of seminal dreampop outfit A.R.Kane on the 30th anniversary of the band’s groundbreaking ‘69‘ album, has released the USB Limited First Edition pack of the new Thinking Sweet EP with an exclusive, bonus dub version of Sweet Dreams, exclusively mixed for the USB pack. This edition is limited to 20 and comes from London, made in England. It is a delightful record of 3 dreampop/ dub-wise and shoegazed songs, each of them caressing the ears with their beautiful riffing and quite sophisticated arrangements. None of these songs is overloaded or busy, and the band showing a straight up sophisticated pop attitude in the studio. Check out this preview!

Thinking About You is sheer bliss. I love the band’s harmonic lacing and their certain and solid performance on all 3 songs, I love their vocals and I like very much their shoegazey approach on the guitars. All songs are written, arranged, recorded and produced by Rudy Tambala, who we find on the mic, guitars, and beats. The two other members, Maggie Tambala and Andy Taylor, take their parts on additional vocals and guitars with extraordinary musical accuracy. Rudy Tambala has been performing and recording with Maggie and Andy under the A.R.Kane moniker since 2015. This summer, they re-branded as Jübl (pronounced ‘Jhuw-bahl’), pushing into the future with a brand new face.

Sweet Dreams overwhelmed me with its downtempo warmth and the excellent mix of beats with the shoegaze riffing, along with the vocals too! It’s really easy to understand that they are all skilled players and spherical musicians/artists, capably blending acoustic and fuzzy guitars with dub beats with dreampop vocals. Also, try Thinking Sweet Fusion, the stunning shoegaze epic of almost 9 minutes, where all the band’s delights are placed in a peculiar arrangement full of fills and bridges and beautiful vocals. That song could be considered the marvel of the record, 9 minutes that pass easily and pleasantly with great color! The whole record doesn’t have any vociferous edges in general but the same songs hide wonderful surprises. After all, that’s why I love driving with their music and such records tend to be rare nowadays. I believe that if a band is making music you can in the car, then this is definitely a successful release. I’ve heard that a full album may be coming within the year, so that’s something to look forward to! For the time being, here is Thinking Sweet EP!

Hey people I'm Mike D from Athens GR (43). I'm a sound engineer, radio producer, and certainly a music "freak." I couldn't be anything else, you see: I grew up in a musical home (my father was a composer), and wanted to be a rock-star but wasn't patient enough to study music. Instead, I studied the technical stuff and went really "nuts" when I started writing articles about the bands and artists I love. It all started back in 2002 in a printed magazine (Sound Maker - RIP) and I still do it because I really like sharing my libraries, discotheque, info, connections, knowledge, and all. I'm involved in all "waves" music (new wave/darkwave/post-punk/shoegaze), punk, industrial, EBM, alternative rock, indie, electronic, avant-garde/ experimental/ freestyle...but on the other hand I can easily throw a classical CD in the player, or a jazzy tune, or...ok you get it: Music! I'd like to read your comments on my writing because you know how it goes, and you all know the glorious song by Placebo,"Without You I'm Nothing"...Thanx and enjoy Freedom and Music, Loud!
